Welcome to Newton Farm Foods

Newton Farm Foods (incorporating goodmeat.co.uk) is a family farm based butchery and farmshop. We specialise in locally produced, high quality, free range meats.  We also deliver to families, restuarants, schools, pubs and B&Bs in and around the Bath area.

We also sell other foods sourced as locally as we can find them, such as Organic Jersy Milk and Cream from Beckington, Eggs from Radstock, Cold pressed Rape seed oils from Newton St Loe and Rode, Nr Frome, Vegetables from Batheaston, Preserves and Chutneys from Keynsham, Apple Juice from Glastonbury, Cheeses from Kelston and Lulsgate, Yoghurt from Blagdon, and frozen ready meals cooked using our meats by Cavendish Cooks of Bath. Not to mention the wonderful Bertinet Breads and Croissants baked just a mile along the road from us.

We aim to support local businesses, producers and suppliers, helping to keep the pound circulating locally!

We have our own beef herd roaming the green fields of our Duchy of Cornwall farm in the picturesque village of Newton St Loe, Bath. When you visit our shop you can enjoy some of this amazing scenery yourself by walking around the village, or using some of the network of footpaths around Newton St Loe.  We have some walking routes that you can follow, just ask in the shop.

Our farm shop has been furnished with re-cycled materials wherever possible, including our vegetable rack which has been mede out of the steps that used to be in our Maze maize, and old disused and preloved cupboards that we have found in our sheds having been stored for a long time. Everyone agrees that is is not only beautiful, but also doing its bit to be sustainable.

Come and see for yourself!

Why Newton Farm?

Newton Farm Meats are probably the most tender, tasty and good value meats you can buy.

We are third generation farmers in Newton St Loe, a picturesque village just 3 miles from Bath. We have several breeds of cattle -  South Devons, Herefords, Aberdeen Angus, and many crossbreeds. We are slowly building up a herd of pedigree South Devons.  In fact most things here are done slowly!  Our beef herd lives out on grass where it grows slowly and naturally, with nothing artificial to speed things up.

We breed our own calves which stay with their mothers for about 9 months, which allows the calves to have the very best start in life, forming strong bonds with their mothers and staying on their mother's milk. They are strong and healthy by the time they are weaned and live together in a herd.

In the spring and summer months all of our cattle roam outside in the Capability Brown designed Newton Park. During these months we gather in grass and preserve it as Silage. During the winter the cattle live in spacious barns with loose straw bedding, and are fed the Silage, as well as home grown wheat and vital vitamins and nutrients. All of their feed is natural and does NOT contain any genetically modified feed or growth hormones. We have high welfare standards and much higher than often found in other countries around the world.
